Birth Support Offerings

  • Complimentary Birth Consultation:Choosing your Doula is a choice that involves participating in a relationship where I implement collaborative prenatal care and support during our meetings to result in a unique bond in which we create your ideal birth scenario while also preparing for the unexpected. Over time we will develop trust and grow together along your path to becoming a Parent to your newborn. This consultation is a time for us to discuss your desires and goals, fear and anxieties and for you to ask me any questions about my training, how I relate to my clients in order to provide continuous support, for me to fully hear you so that I may aid in building a calm, productive, sacred birth space. We also spend time connecting as people and using our intuition to decide if we would like to move forward with me as your Birth Doula. So much is decided within our hearts and in this session we get a chance to tap into those instincts and come together so that should we move forward we both feel open to working with one another during this special time and you feel confident that my support would add positive energy, information and trusted guidance to your experience. This can usually lasts up to an hour but I try not to put a time limit since I feel it’s counterproductive to beginning a relationship where trust, communication and honesty is incredibly important.

  • 3-4 Prenatal Meetings prior to birth. During these meeting we speak about all things pregnancy, create a birth plan, talk about styles of birthing and begin to work towards your goals and choices for Labor and Delivery whether they be medicated, unmedicated, a hybrid of the two as well as talking about all the options available to you so that you can make these choices from a place of power, using evidence based information, informed consent and without judgement. Should you need more than this amount of meetings I am always open to making sure your needs are met and you go into your birth feeling complete and ready.

  • Attendance at your birth for the entire duration, with NO additional fees or time restrictions.  At the start of your labor we will be in constant communication and once you request my presence I will stay with you in total support of your choices and adherence to your birth plan (unless there are medical interventions necessary that will keep you and your baby healthy) until you and your baby are settled in and comfortable, your questions are answered and your baby has latched to you breast/chest; should that be your wish. This could mean laboring along with you at home prior to the hospital, beginning in the hospital or a number of different ways that I am able to provide support when YOU choose until your baby is here and you float off into the bliss of Motherhood, wherever that may take place.

  • 2-3 postpartum visits after your baby is born where we go over basic newborn care, I check in on how you are healing, feeling, and help with getting you acclimated to being a new parent. I assist with sharing swaddling techniques, safe bathing procedures, breastfeeding positions and helping you with any latch issue that may have come up, teaching you how to use your breast pump, sleep solutions and how to take advantage of those first days and weeks with your new baby to bond and connect as much as possible.

Education

As your Doula I share the rich tradition and spiritual history of the Rebozo. A historical Mexican garment utilized by indigenous people as a garment, baby carrier and for intimacy and comfort.During labor, the Rebozo can ease discomfort, work with your contractions to relax the pelvis, uterus and ligaments and allow room for the baby to rotate into the optimal position for birth. I include a gift of an authentic Rebozo for you to experience the spiritual connection and multiple postpartum benefits it provides.

Breathing and mindfulness for Labor

As a part of our work together I will share with you helpful deep breathing techniques, mindfulness exercises, guided meditations as well as positive affirmations to enable you to better move through your birth experience. This important aspect of birth support will give you the emotional tools that allow you to maintain a calm, relaxed state which enables you to approach the surges of labor and birth well grounded with a quiet mind, allowing you to fully relax and welcome the process, leaving behind any possible distractions that could interrupt the natural flow of labor.
